Broken screw extractor kit by Rhein83

Features

Although not very common, a broken screw within an implant can pose a serious problem. With the BROKEN SCREW EXTRACTOR KIT, a broken screw can be removed from the implant if it has not been cemented in, or if the threads inside the implant have been damaged during a previous removal attempt. In 90% of cases, the broken screw can be easily extracted, but the operation must be performed with a great deal of skill, patience, and caution. The time required for removal may depend on many factors, including the position of the implant, which can facilitate or complicate the operation.

The kit consists of:

  • Special bur
  • Claw reamer bur
  • Manual bur holder
  • Centring body
Operating procedure

Broken screw extractor kit - claw reamer bur with manual bur holder

Broken screw inside the implant

Insert the CLAW REAMER BUR into the CENTRAL BODY with the MANUAL BUR HOLDER.

Insert them into the implant and with constant pressure on the broken screw. Using the MANUAL BUR HOLDER, unscrew it and remove it from the implant by turning anti-clockwise.

Broken screw extractor kit - claw reamer bur with contra-angle handpiece

If the screw remains stuck inside the implant, use the claw reamer bur together with the contra-angle handpiece.

Insert the claw reamer bur into the 20:1 contra-angle implant handpiece. Set the implant insertion program to anti-clockwise and press on the broken screw to flatten it.

Use a speed between 10 and 30 RPM, and prepare it for the special bur that will be used to destroy it.

Broken screw extractor kit - special bur with contra-angle handpiece

Insert the SPECIAL BUR into the 20:1 contra-angle implant handpiece. Set the programme to anti-clockwise, at a speed of 500 to 600 RPM.

Be sure to cool with plenty of water during this operation. Insert the SPECIAL BUR into the CENTRAL BODY, start the rotation, press down on the broken screw for no more than 3 seconds, and release. This alternating movement will facilitate the entry of water to cool the implant and the BUR.

The CENTRING Body must not move throughout the entire operation. If the CENTRING BODY moves, the SPECIAL BUR will break. Once all the laser engravings of the SPECIAL BUR disappear into the CENTRING BODY, the operation is complete, and the screw will have been completely destroyed. Once the screw has been destroyed, any shavings can be removed from the cavity using air, water and suction.
